On October 3, 2026 Unity in Fort Walton Beach will perform pet blessings as part of DOG DAZE, sponsored by the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce. This is a free family friendly community celebration that draws hundreds of dogs and their humans. The event features Wild, Wild West theme, yoga with dogs, pet parades, costume contests, Dachshund races, a small dog stampede, local rescues, and vendor booths.
This is a very entertaining event even if you don’t have a dog, so please come for an hour or two. If you do, stop by our booth and say hello.
Want to know more about pet blessings? They usually occur early in October and are done in honor of St. Francis of Assisi’s feast day--he is the patron saint of animals and the environment. Originally celebrated by the Catholic Church, other denominations now hold animal blessing ceremonies.
