Gloria Mayo

Moving to Niceville with her husband (Clarence) and son (Franklin) in 1991, Mrs. Mayo is a member of Unity in Fort Walton Beach (1992) and the Kiwanis Club of Niceville-Valparaiso (2005).  Her writing skills have lead her to author and edit both organization’s newsletters in the past, and provided a basis for a 15-year professional career as Executive Director of The Early Learning Coalition of Okaloosa and Walton Counties. She is a fledgling artist (prefers acrylics, needlepoint, and quilting) and loves gardening, and fishing. Her love of children and her desire to be a positive influence on those around her has driven her direction for many years.

Gloria has learned to value the differences in people; not judge on those differences. She attributes her success both professionally and personally to her faith in an All Powerful God, the lessons provided by a loving father and mother, and her strong bond with family and friends. She feels very blessed for her husband, son, and extended family. She also feels very blessed for the opportunities which she has been afforded.

Gloria graduated Tuskegee University (1974) with a Bachelor’s in Biology (minor in Chemistry), earned an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education Services from Northwest Florida State College (1995), and engaged in post-graduate work at Troy State University in Public Administration. Her quest for Truth began as a child with bible study, Sunday school, Church, and Unity’s publication for children, Wee Wisdom Magazine. She shares the truths she has learned with those she meets.
